A landmark in heat-treatment. Gas nitriding with ZeroFlow® method – an innovative method which increases process advantages.

ZeroFlow® method is based on nitriding process realized with the use of a single-component atmosphere – only ammonia (NH3).

Regulation of chemical composition of nitriding atmosphere, therefore the regulation of nitriding potential takes place only by periodically closing and opening the ammonia flow into the retort. Amount of NH3 introduced into the retort is controlled with a special analyzer. Processes which has been realized so far, showed, that ZeroFlow® method characterizes itself in significantly less usage and emission of process gases, needs more simple control system and allows to form phase layers with the same precision as in those with the use of 2-component atmospheres.

Advantages of ZeroFlow® nitriding method:

1. Minimal consumption of process gases,
2. Simplified gas installation,
3. Optional – nitrocarburizing, nitrosulfurizing, pre-oxidation and post-oxidation process, as well as tempering and bright annealing,
4. High precision of forming the nitrided layer due to precise control and uniform process character,
5. The lowest consumption of purging gases due to the possibility of using vacuum pump for retort evacuation,
6. Direct, fast and precise analysis of atmosphere composition in a closed system, no installation for sample collection,
7. Low investment costs,
8. Low operation costs.

Gas nitriding furnaces SECO/WARWICK ThermAL S.A.

We offer two basic types of furnaces of reliable design to perform regulated gas nitriding. One with horizontal retort – HRN type and the second one with vertical retort (pit furnace) - VRN type. Working chamber of the furnace, their maximum load and types of the processes which can be done in them are adjusted to needs and requirements of our customers. The furnaces are designed to perform regulated gas nitriding with ZeroFlow® method, as well as for nitrocarburizing, pre-oxidation, post-oxidation after nitriding and nitrocarburizing, nitrosulfurizing, tempering and bright annealing in nitrogen.
